On Tuesday, November 24, in the Chernihiv region, where the head of the Regional State Administration was arrested for a bribe, a truck with 800 illegally felled New Year trees was stopped in the section of the border service department “Mountain” of the Chernigov detachment.
This was reported by the press service of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
Thus, a border detachment stopped a Renault car several kilometers from the border to verify the legality of its stay within the controlled border area.
“A resident of the border area was driving a truck with Ukrainian registration. Behind the windshield of the cab of the vehicle were blue and yellow flags, and on the door were stripes of the Russian tricolor. Inspection of the vehicle revealed that the closed trailer was full of pine trees. In total, there were 800 young conifers without the necessary markings, ”says the State Border Service.
At the moment, the pines have been confiscated by representatives of the National Police and the question of initiating criminal proceedings under article 246 “Illegal logging or illegal transport, storage, sale of timber” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being decided.
“It is worth noting that the illegal machinations with New Year trees this year were recorded quite early, a week before the start of the calendar winter,” the border service summarized.
Earlier, “Strana” reported that the NBU issues a 10 hryvnia coin in honor of the State Border Service. The reverse bears the inscription “State Border Service”, the outline of a map of Ukraine, a symbolic border post and “compositions symbolizing the activities of the State Border Service in the air, on land and at sea”.
