The Dynamo received many compliments at the end of the match at the Camp Nou. Congratulations not only from Ukraine, but also from the Spanish side. The “Barcelona” was then really surprised by the courage, discipline and tenacity of the rival, but was not scared. Having won, the Blaugranas arrived in Ukraine for the second leg without the slightest fear of the result. In addition to Messi and De Jong, who were not included in the delegation by decision of the coaches, the main players Alba, Griezmann and Dembélé began on the bench. Ronald Koeman made it clear that today he will score three points with little blood.
“Dynamo” also did not play with the optimal composition, but this comes from desperation and not from a luxurious life. The goalkeeper and the defensive lines looked quite predictable, in the midfield it should be noted the departure of Denis Garmash, and in the attack – Benjamin Verbic. Vlad Supryaga, as Ognen Vukojevic explained before the game, did not really recover from the coronavirus.
The “Barça” passed the first half from a position of strength, although this position was only in possession of the ball – 73 percent against 27 and “Dynamo”. But possession was sterile (which is so typical of today’s “Barcelona”) – there were hardly any chances at Buschan’s door. Brightwhite did not hold onto the ball, and even when he was at his feet by accident he lost, Coutinho rarely penetrated the penalty area and Trinkau lost a physical fight. As a result, in 45 minutes, “Barça” gave birth to a single shot on goal (Trinkau) and two more (Coutinho), heading for the goal. “Dynamo” had a lot less ball possession, but created even more commotion.
De Pena’s interesting free-kick caused a bit of panic in Ter Stegen’s domain. The only pity is that none of Carlos’s partners could take advantage of this. Then there was a promising exit from the Uruguayan towards the gate on the left flank, but the offside position stopped the development of this attack. Ultimately, Verbic missed the Ukrainian side’s best chance when he touched the ball off a flank pass from Kenziora, preventing Buyalsky from breaking through from a lethal position. Not the fact that Ter Stegen had saved.
Time ended with De Pena shooting from a sharp angle, which the Barça goalkeeper faced. Here, to be honest, it was difficult to score. But overall, Mircea Lucescu hardly scolded his players during the break – they played without panic and very disciplined. What you need in the fight against the raw “Barsa”.
But he wanted even more, and that is why “Dynamo” actively took the lead from the beginning of the second half. And there were chances to score. Verbic annoyed Ter Stegen with a long-range shot, Shaparenko and Buyalsky ran together towards the other’s goal, but without completing, Verbic claimed a penalty in the fight against one of the defenders, but failed.
How to implement the chances – “Barça” showed in a few minutes. The culés scored two goals out of nowhere. First, Dest worked his way into Buschan’s possession and, intercepting the ball from Brightwhite (that’s exactly, no need to talk about an accent pass there), delicately hit it under the second post. And then Brightwhite himself took his chance by playing the corner. An effective fall to the far post was made by the debutant of the main team, Oscar Mingeza.
Five minutes of activity and the game is ready. And “Dynamo” kept wasting opportunities. Not as clearly as at the Camp Nou three weeks ago, but also fatal for hopes of scoring points. Verbic missed, and before that he ineptly hit De Pen, although Buyalsky was waiting for a pass in the penalty area. This is not forgiven … At the door of Buschan Popov, who entered as a substitute, lost his position to Brightwaite in the riding team and decided to “justify himself” with a shove in the back. As a result, Brightwhite had a chance to double off a penalty kick, which he did.
What could have happened next? The Dynamo’s task has changed smoothly from “not to lose” to “scoring at least one prestigious goal.” But the people of Kiev did not even manage to preserve their dignity. Buyalsky and Verbich beat and beat, but didn’t score. And Barça beat its wings thanks to the young players. Dest, like Brightwhite, could have doubled, then Pooch hit dangerously. But the end was made by a player who can boast of status and experience: Griezmann, after Alba’s pass, hit the target from the center of the penalty area.
0: 4 – you cannot jump over your head. Whatever “Barça” is (and today he was young and frivolous), “Dynamo” are too tough. A place in the Europa League playoffs will be played in a head-to-head match with Ferencvaros, who lost a draw against Juve in 90 + 2 minutes today.
