The deputies at the first meeting took the oath

The Lviv City Council held its first meeting without Mayor Andriy Sadovy, who was outraged by this. He described the November 24 session as an attempt to usurp power by city deputies.

The Lviv City Council of the new convocation on Tuesday, November 24, held its first meeting, which was attended by 39 deputies from the European Solidarity, Warta and VO Svoboda parties. The deputies were sworn in, writes Interfax-Ukraine.

The deputies from Samopomich and Golos did not appear at the meeting. There are 64 deputies in the Lviv City Council.

Also, the newly elected mayor, Andrey Sadovy, was not there.

After taking the oath, the deputies voted in favor of the creation of a scrutiny commission, which will elect an interim presidium of the Lviv City Council. The presidium will include a deputy from each party.

The head of the electoral commission of the city of Lviv, Igor Slipetsky, told reporters that the commission sets the results of the elections for the mayor of the city, and as soon as they are established, the deputies will meet again for a session to introduce the new head of the united territorial community of Lviv.

“We have a law that requires us to hold the first session on a certain date. We have already held the session later,” Slipetsky replied to a question from the press about the convenience of holding the session on November 24.

Meanwhile, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovoy said that after the first session of the Lviv City Council of the new convocation, the situation with the Lviv Mayor’s powers is unclear.

The mayor stressed that until the issue of his powers is clarified, he will not sign any document. The mayor of Lviv is sure that the electoral commission could have established the outcome of the Lviv mayoral elections on the eve, but “delayed the holding of this emergency meeting” of the City Council.

“As of today, the situation with the powers that be is unclear, as the session actually terminates the powers of the current mayor. Our lawyers are studying the situation … From now on I will not sign anything, I am waiting for clarifications from the lawyers. Why do this? who is the boss in the house, to neutralize the community’s decision. It’s stupid, just stupid, “said the mayor of Lviv.

Previously, he stated that he considered holding the session on November 24 as an attempt to usurp power by city deputies.

Before that, it was reported that in Lviv, the commission members signed a protocol before the end of the vote.

We also wrote that on election day, the mayor of Lviv for the first time could not vote because he could not find a passport.
