The FTA between Ukraine and Israel will start operating in January
The countries signed an agreement on a free trade zone almost two years ago and it will take effect in January.
The free trade zone between Ukraine and Israel will begin to function on January 1, 2021, reported President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday, November 24.
“This is a new level of relations between countries and a green light to increase Ukrainian exports, closer cooperation in the areas of high-tech, engineering, development of investment cooperation,” Zelensky wrote on Twitter.
The chief rabbi of Kiev, Rabbi Yonatan Binyamin Markovich, reacted to this information.
“As the chief rabbi of the city of Kiev, as a Ukrainian and as a Jew, I am happy to see Ukraine’s advance in the international arena and, in particular, the deepening of the commonwealth of Ukraine and Israel. I was very happy to hear news about the FTA between Ukraine and Israel. Peace and unity are always the key to development, especially considering how similar the situations of Ukraine and Israel are now: we have similar hymns about how our hope and glory did not break us or die, many! Founding fathers of Israel and Jewish sages are from Ukraine! With help, Ukraine is waiting for continued development with advanced technologies from Israel and brilliant ideas from Ukrainians, “says his letter to Zelensky.
Remember that Ukraine and Israel signed a free trade agreement in January 2019. It is expected that from the moment the agreement enters into force, import duties on approximately 80% of Ukraine’s industrial products are expected to be canceled.
