“Experienced and proven leaders in crisis will begin working immediately to rebuild our institutions, renew and rethink American leadership to protect Americans both at home and abroad, and respond to the crucial challenges of our time, from infectious diseases, terrorism, nuclear proliferation, cyber threats, and climate change, “the statement said.
The following candidates were then announced:
