Zelensky agreed to Ukraine’s withdrawal from another CIS treaty
Earlier, the Rada made the decision to withdraw from the agreement on the implementation of the monopoly policy agreed by the CIS.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy supported Ukraine’s withdrawal from the agreement on the implementation of a monopoly policy agreed upon by the CIS. He signed the corresponding law on Monday, November 23.
The withdrawal of this agreement by the CIS will protect the national economic interests of Ukraine, explained the office of the president.
“The agreement contains mechanisms for the exchange of information, so there is a risk that CIS members will receive information that can be used to exert commercial and economic pressure on Ukraine,” it was reported.
The treaty was signed on January 25, 2000 in Moscow and ratified by the Ukrainian parliament by law of January 16, 2003. The Rada made the decision to withdraw from this agreement on November 5, 2020.
We will recall that Ukraine previously withdrew from three regular CIS agreements.
Prior to this, the Cabinet of Ministers denounced the agreement on support for radio navigation and a series of agreements related to civil aviation within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
