We must receive eight million doses of vaccines – Stepanov
The Minister of Health said that the first date of call for deliveries to Ukraine vaccine against coronavirus infections. According to him, it will be possible to announce the delivery dates in early December.
The start date of supplies to Ukraine of vaccines against coronavirus under the international initiative COVAX will be known after December 7, 2020. The Minister of Health of Ukraine, Maxim Stepanov, said this on the air of the channel of television Ukraine 24.
According to the head of the Ministry of Health, the technical documents will be signed before December 7.
“We have a global COVAX initiative, according to which we must receive eight million doses of vaccines. We signed technical documents by December 7. After December 7, we will be able to immediately say when the first deliveries of vaccines will be,” Stepanov said.
He recalled that Ukraine is also in talks with other manufacturers of vaccines against coronavirus in different countries.
“We are negotiating with different companies, at different stages of signing documents with all the leading companies that manufacture and develop vaccines. I want to emphasize that there is not a single vaccine in the world that has been registered. But with all companies – Pfizer, Moderna , AstraZeneca, China Sinopharm, Johnson & Johnson, we are negotiating with all of them and we are in different stages of signing contracts, “said the minister.
He added that “instantly” everyone will be informed when contracts will be signed and when “we will have specific dates and specific volumes of supplies from different companies.”
According to him, negotiations must be carried out with all pharmaceutical companies that are willing to provide our country with vaccines against COVID-19.
Before this, it was learned that Stepanov evaluated Ukraine’s ability to store COVID vaccines at -70 ° C.
As previously reported, the Ministry of Health is negotiating a vaccine with six companies. The Health Ministry cannot provide the coronavirus vaccine to the entire population of the country at the expense of a single producer, Stepanov said.
