The president of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR, Republic of Artsakh) Araik Harutyunyan thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for his help in the ceasefire and ending the war. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
According to him, the Russian peacekeepers turned out to be “an important stabilizing factor” in the situation around the republic. “On behalf of our people, I would like to express my gratitude for the work done and the efforts made to stabilize the situation, create favorable conditions for the establishment and maintenance of peace, solving various problems,” Harutyunyan wrote.
The Karabakh leader noted that the Russian military accompanies citizens who had previously left the conflict zone and also ensures the safety of convoys with humanitarian supplies. He also expressed his gratitude to Putin “for active and personal efforts to protect objects of historical and cultural heritage, religious shrines on the territory of the Republic of Artsakh.”
On November 9, the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan adopted a joint declaration on the cessation of fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh as of November 10. The parties agreed that Baku will take control of the territories of the Aghdam, Gazakh, Kelbajar and Lachin regions. In addition, Russian peacekeepers will be present in Karabakh. Units will be deployed along the contact line and the Lachin corridor, which connects Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia.
