No mask fines imposed yet, police said why

The police have not yet fined Ukrainians for the lack of masks in public places and on transport. Today, mobile groups carry out preventive work.

This is stated in a message on the Kiev police website.

It is reported that on November 21, new sanctions for violation of quarantine came into force. In particular, for staying in a public place or in transport without a mask, a fine of 170-255 hryvnia is provided. Additionally, law enforcement officers were allowed to fine on the spot for such violations.

However, the police note that the mobile teams are primarily intended to educate people about fines and the importance of wearing masks correctly. The Metropolitan Police during today’s controls in transport and public places gave masks to those who did not have them.

“Only in the event that citizens do not respond to police comments and refuse to use the means of protection, law enforcement officers, within their competence and in accordance with their official powers, will bring those offenders to the justice, “says the message.
