“Real” often plays games that are meaningless in terms of game content, but today that was not the case. Zidane studied the opponent quite well and offered him the most uncomfortable style of play. Madrid treasured the ball, made no mistakes in its midfield, kept its slenderness. The “Villarreal” responded with dignity both statistically and on the field. Although Unai Emery would have preferred to see more meaningful solutions in the final phase of the attacks. This was achieved only after the break.

Not a single hit on goal in the first half is an eloquent fact that is not in favor of the “submarine”. The only episode worthy of attention was Dani Parejo’s kick, after which the ball flew over the crossbar of Courtois’ goal. The difference with “Real” is that Madrid, having created little else, managed to score a goal.

Rationality, use of deep reserves: this is how this situation can be characterized. Mariano Díaz scored, appearing in the first team for the first time this season, assisted by Dani Carvajal, who was absent for a long time due to injury.

The Real Madrid defender delivered an excellent pass to the forward. But the “Villarreal” players had doubts about the legitimacy of the goal, because in the first phase of the attack Carvajal gave the pass to Lucas Vásquez, who was in an offside position. The ball did not reach number 17 and ended up again in Carvajal, after which there was an assist to Mariano. The referees decided that Vásquez did not influence the episode and did not annul the goal.

Villarreal started the second 45 minutes very actively. Unai Emery’s energy was felt in every movement of the local team’s footballers. And the arrows from the coaches’ facilities could be considered to have hit their mark if Gerard Moreno had realized his convenient opportunity. But the striker knocked on the door.

In addition, later Iborra and Dani Parekhno also failed. The match, as before, took place in conditions of a close and egalitarian struggle, but the hosts lost through their own waste. Real Madrid has created less, but has scored more.

Moments at Courtois’ door (although without Thibault stops) made Real Madrid look at the situation differently. The score is slippery and the opponent is dangerous. An attempt by Vasquez to double the lead was obvious, but a better performance was also suggested. And it finally exploded where it was thin – “Real” failed. For this team, this is not an unusual event.

Defenders of “creamy” missed Chukweze’s pull, and Thibault Courtois was late with the start. After lying down on the grass, the goalkeeper knocked down the opponent with his hands, without playing the ball. The natural penalty was converted by Gerard Moreno. During the minutes until the final whistle, the “creamy” were no closer to victory. Equivalent moment, as it was in Kubo, “Real” and did not create.

Sensation? Surprise? No, quite the expected result. Real Madrid’s crisis continues and Villarreal continues their undefeated streak in La Liga. Such are the realities of today.
