The key idea of the so-called “B” plan for Donbas is the introduction of a peacekeeping contingent. The Ukrainian side has found a way to offer this option.
Alexey Arestovich, advisor to the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG), spoke about this in an interview with tsn.ua.
Arestovich stressed that he could speak about plan “B” unofficially. According to him, this plan is being discussed on the sidelines.
“And the key word is ‘peacekeepers’ … there is such a legend on the sidelines that in 2016 they almost agreed to peacekeeping, but someone from the Ukrainian delegation resisted and the plan to bringing in peacekeepers was thwarted. Now we have found a way to really provide peacekeepers. Increasing the OSCE’s SMM – it’s a powerful control element, “Arestovich said.
We will recall, it was previously reported that the Ukrainian side was supposed to arrive this week in Berlin to discuss a plan for joint actions in Donbass, however, apparently, such a meeting did not take place.
The Ukrainian plan could be a prerequisite for a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. At least, this is the opinion of the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG Leonid Kravchuk.
