Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu mentioned the number of refugees who returned to Nagorno-Karabakh after Russian peacekeepers provided them with convoy transport. TASS reports.
“As of today, almost 7 thousand citizens have returned. This work continues, and I am sure that everyone who wants to return to Nagorno-Karabakh will be able to do so, ”Shoigu said at the talks in Yerevan.
Armenian Defense Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan thanked all the officers and generals who were preparing the peacekeeping mission in Karabakh.
On November 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a declaration on a total cessation of fighting in Karabakh. According to the document, the Azerbaijani and Armenian parties stop at their occupied positions and Russian peacekeepers are deployed in the region.
Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov, said that 3,000 refugees had returned to Karabakh since November 14.
