Zelensky recorded a video for the Day of Dignity and Freedom
The President recorded a video on the anniversary of the two revolutions, in which he spoke about the important lessons of the Revolution of Dignity and the Orange Revolution.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on the occasion of Dignity and Freedom Day on Saturday, November 21, recorded a video in which he stated that in decisive times in history, the main and decisive word will not always be for politicians, but for the Ukrainian people.
“When defining times in history, the main and decisive word will not always be for politicians. And thank God. But for the Ukrainian people … Ukrainians are ready to fight for truth and justice,” Zelensky said.
According to him, both the Dignity Revolution and the student revolution on granite, whose 30th anniversary was celebrated on October 2, are a confirmation.
According to Zelensky, there is a great achievement of these events that cannot be denied. This, he pointed out, is a new awareness of both citizens and authorities.
“Every citizen knows: the phrase” Nothing depends on me, it is a myth. Together we can do everything. And every government in Ukraine will have at least three symbols, three reminders that you can never go against the will of its people “, – emphasized Zelensky.
He trusts that Ukrainians are ready to defend freedom of choice, freedom of speech and thought, equality, respect, the rule of law and democracy. “And the most important thing is to defend our native Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he stressed.
According to Zelensky, today we need to remember not only the key moments in our history, but also draw and learn very important lessons.
“For the people, the revolution is the path to the desired changes. For the politicians, it is the path to the desired seats. Therefore, together with you, without listening to the old politicians, we must continue the difficult construction every day. of a truly new, free and dignified Ukraine. Where the law will always come first, no surnames or past merits, “said the president.
According to him, in this new Ukraine, three years after the historical milestone, there will be a museum, “not a temporary construction”, and all the positive changes written on the posters of the Dignity Revolution will come true.
“Where dignity, freedom, decency and honesty will not be temporary constructions, but unshakable values,” Zelensky said.
Also on this day, on behalf of Zelensky, who is being treated for coronavirus in Feofania, a basket of flowers was installed on the commemorative cross at the place of death of the Maidan activists.
As you know, on November 21 in Ukraine the Day of Dignity and Freedom is celebrated, scheduled to coincide with the anniversaries of the start of the Orange Revolution (2004) and the Revolution of Dignity (2013). It was celebrated as Freedom Day from 2005 to 2011, but during Viktor Yanukovych’s presidency it was canceled. In 2014, the fifth president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, restored the official status of the holiday.
