Maia Sandu, who won the presidential elections in Moldova, said she supports the peaceful solution of the problem related to Transnistria.
Russian troops must be completely withdrawn from Moldovan territory, said Maia Sandu, who won the presidential elections in Moldova, in an interview with European Pravda.
“I am against the federalization of Moldova, I do not support the options that were proposed [предшественник на посту президента Молдовы Игорь] Dodon with his group. Because, although they did not make clear proposals, they spoke of federalization. I am sure we will find a format to resolve the conflict. And it should include the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Moldova. We have always talked about this and we will talk about it in the future, “Sandu said.
He advocates a peaceful solution to the problem related to Transnistria.
“I believe that one day there will be a geopolitical opportunity for the reunification of Moldova, and we must be prepared for it. But in any case, it must be a peaceful solution. It must be a solution that suits all of Moldova. Also, I am sure that en There should be an action plan developed in Moldova, coordinated with all political forces and with society. I understand that this is a very difficult task, but there is no simple solution. Transnistria is a region that has separated, where representatives of the Moldova’s constitutional power cannot even reach And yes, Transnistria has the support of Russia, including through the supply of gas free of charge and in many other ways, ”said Sandu.
On November 15, the second round of the presidential elections took place in Moldova, Sandu received 57.72% support voters, his opponent Dodon – 42.28%.
Transnistria declared its sovereignty in 1990, in connection with which an armed conflict broke out between Moldova and the self-proclaimed republic. In the summer of 1992 the hostilities ended. In the mid-1990s, a contingent of Russian peacekeeping forces was transferred to Transnistria.
The conflict has not yet been resolved politically. The international community has not recognized the independence of Transnistria.
