Starting tomorrow, new sanctions for quarantine violations will come into force in Ukraine in the form of fines of up to 255 UAH for people not wearing protective masks.
This was reported by the press service of the National Police.
“According to the innovations, the police can now not only draw up administrative protocols for violation of quarantine, but also make decisions on the ground regarding people in public buildings or transportation without wearing masks or respirators. But first of all the police will act preventively, that is to say first make a comment… But only in case of rejection will document the offender’s actions, ”said National Police Chief Igor Klimenko.
In addition, the police said that on Saturday and Sunday, police officers on the territory of the state will conduct raid controls to monitor compliance by business entities with the government’s decision on the weekend quarantine.
“The police ask everyone to comply with the established quarantine rules, because they are designed to preserve the life and health of citizens and curb the spread of the coronavirus infection in Ukraine,” the statement said.
Fines for not wearing masks in Ukraine: what is known
On November 6, Verkhovna Rada adopted a government law amending the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine regarding the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 (No. 3891).
For staying in public buildings, transport during quarantine without respirators or masks covering the nose and mouth, a fine of up to 255 UAH is threatened.
On November 19, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, signed the law “Amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine with regard to the prevention of the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19)” No. 1000-IX.
The document complements article 44-3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine with the second part, which provides for the imposition of a fine in the amount of 10-15 minimum non-taxable income of citizens for staying in public buildings, structures, transportation during quarantine without wearing personal protective equipment, including respirators or protective masks that cover the nose and mouth, including those made by yourself.
