The NBU leadership meeting with the IMF did not yield results: until the end of 2020, Ukraine, as planned, will not receive the next tranche of loan. Among the creditor’s requirements: normalize the situation with the KSU, which abolished the penalty for illegal enrichment, balance the budget for 2021 (too high a deficit) and improve the anti-corruption infrastructure.
“Now, due to the tense situation within the walls of parliament and the quarantine, it will not be possible to pass emblematic bills. There was a meeting with the IMF, but it ended with a knowledge and an exchange of opinions.” . Now it is important to get money already in 2021 and as soon as possible ”, – said senior OBOZREVATEL interlocutors.
Note that without IMF loans, Ukraine will not be able to meet the budget for 2021. New loans have already been incorporated into the country’s main financial document. It is up to them whether the country will be able to pay and service existing debts, as well as finance budget expenditures.
By the way, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the country has already met all the Fund’s requirements, however, until the adoption of the balanced budget of Ukraine for 2021, it probably would not have been possible to get money even without problems with the KSU. At the same time, it is already known that the main financial document will be adopted late, in violation of the Budget Code, as early as December.
