Seven EU partner countries have imposed sanctions against the current government of Belarus. They were introduced in connection with “the falsification of elections and the violation of human rights”.

This was stated by the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, reports the press service of the European Parliament.

Thus, Ukraine, Norway, Iceland, North Macedonia, Albania, Liechtenstein and Montenegro joined the sanctions.

As a reminder, the EU has already introduced two blocks of sanctions against Belarusian officials. The “blacklist” includes 55 representatives of the country’s leadership, including Alexander Lukashenko and security officials. They are banned from entering the EU, and their European bank accounts, if discovered, will be frozen.

At the same time, it was previously reported that the European Union will no longer provide a single euro to the government of Alexander Lukashenko.

In addition, RBC-Ukraine wrote that the Belarusian Foreign Ministry decided to expand the list of sanctions against the European Union and Canada. The Belarusian department decided not to publish the list.

Furthermore, Belarus is reducing its level of participation in the Eastern Partnership program of the European Union. Now Minsk will be represented at the summits not by ministers, but by experts.
