According to the law passed by the Verkhovna Rada on November 6, masks or respirators are required:
- in public buildings and structures;
- by public transport.
How much will you have to pay
The fine for the absence of a mask or respirator is set at the amount of 10 to 15 minimum tax-free income of citizens. Now it is 170-225 hryvnia.
Will those who wear masks incorrectly be fined?
According to the law passed by the people’s deputies, a fine can be imposed even if the mask does not adequately cover the nose and mouth.
How do Ukrainians feel about the introduction of fines for lack of masks?
According to a survey by the Sociological Group Rating, 75% of Ukrainians support the introduction of fines for not wearing masks in public places. 25% are against this decision.
83% of respondents said they always wear a mask in transportation or public places, 14% rarely do so, and 6% rarely.
Who initiated the introduction of fines for lack of masks
The head of the Ministry of Health, Maxim Stepanov, said that the initiator of the decision on fines for the absence of masks was his team, which had long insisted on their introduction.
In the bill, published on the Rada website, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal is listed as its initiator.
Recall that on November 20, a new anti-record was registered for the number of detected cases of coronavirus per day in Ukraine: 14,575.
