The Attorney General spoke about the progress of investigations and trials in the Maidan cases in 2020.

Attorney General Irina Venediktova posted a video message on Friday, November 20, talking about the progress of the investigation into the Maidan cases.

He recalled that during the winter protests of 2013-2014, 78 civilians and 13 law enforcement officers were killed, more than 2,500 people were injured, of which more than 2,000 were recognized as victims in criminal proceedings.

Pre-trial investigations are currently underway in 60 criminal cases covering more than 4,300 crime episodes. In addition, the courts of first instance guarantee the maintenance of public prosecution in 86 judicial cases against 176 people.

Since the beginning of the year, 37 people have been reported suspicions, in particular at the time of the commission of the crimes they are accused of: 26 law enforcement officers, including 2 prosecutors and 10 investigators; 3 judges; 8 civilians.

“We are moving towards the results of the investigation of the tragic episodes of the Dignity Revolution and the events and circumstances that led to and accompanied the mass protests, despite the obstacles and criticism,” Venediktova said.

The Attorney General spoke in detail about the Maidan situation for the seventh anniversary.

As reported, the day before it emerged that the Maidan leaders had been summoned for questioning at the State Security Office. But the bureau later reported that the interrogations were canceled two weeks ago, and the emergence of information about them was called manipulation.
