Serbian and Russian doctors fought for the life of the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church Irenaeus, he died of the coronavirus disease at the age of 90.

He was treated at the Karaburma military medical hospital since 4 November.

Patriarch Iriney (Miroslav Gavrilovich) was born in 1930. In 1959, he took the monastic vows of the German Serbian Patriarch, since then he became Irenaeus.
On January 22, 2010, in Belgrade, he was elected the new patriarch.
