Bankova decided to replace Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, a source from the Office of the President told ZN.UA, and then an interlocutor from the Foreign Ministry confirmed it.
According to the newspaper, Vladimir Yelchenko, who had been ambassador to the United States for less than a year, was replaced by former Finance Minister Oksana Markarova.
«The idea was presented by Andrey Ermak. It is necessary to solve the problem with the IMF. I have no more money. And Markarova is in a good position there ”, shared the reasons for such a decision in the OPU.
A source from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expressed skepticism about this decision: “A ‘classic’ returns to Washington after Biden’s victory, and Markarova is not a classic diplomat. The IMF is a very important factor, but the US leadership is much broader, more systematic and requires more practice and diplomatic perspective. “
