The first prize in the competition for the best sketch of the large state emblem went to artist Aleksey Kokhan, co-author of the small coat of arms.
The State Agency for Arts and Art Education organized a competition for the best sketch of the great state emblem of Ukraine. It was the artist Aleksey Kokhan, co-author of the small coat of arms. This was announced on November 19 by the Minister of Culture and Information Policy, Alexander Tkachenko, on his Facebook page.
He specified that the winner’s sketch contains mandatory elements for a large state emblem, namely: the coat of arms of the Zaporozhye army, a Cossack warrior, a knight with a musket and a sign of the princely state of Vladimir the Great, that is, a small state emblem.
The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine will have to prepare a bill approving this draft and submit it to the Verkhovna Rada. Approval of the coat of arms requires 300 or more votes.
“Overall, 112 works were admitted to the competition. The jury today presented its decision at a meeting of the organizing committee,” added Tkachenko.
The State Agency for Arts and Art Education noted that the third prize was awarded to a team of authors: Ivan Turetsky, Lukyan Turetsky, Igor Globa, Dmitry Dubilet, Ivan Severyanka. It was decided not to award the second prize to anyone.
On September 30, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a draft resolution on holding a competition for the best sketch of a large state emblem. He reported that the best projects of the great state emblem will be awarded prizes: UAH 100 thousand, UAH 50 thousand and UAH 30 thousand.
On August 25, the Rada of Ukraine ordered the Cabinet of Ministers to hold a competition for the best sketch of the great state emblem of Ukraine.
The list of state symbols is determined by art. 20 of the Constitution of Ukraine. These include the flag, the anthem, and the large and small coats of arms. The small coat of arms, a golden trident on a blue background, was approved by the Verkhovna Rada in February 1992. The Constitution states that “the main element of the great state emblem of Ukraine is the sign of the princely state of Volodymyr the Great ( the small state emblem of Ukraine) “.
The competitions for the best sketch of the coat of arms have already been held three times, but the parliament has not yet approved their results.
