The authorities intend to replace urban public transport with an electric one within ten years.

In Ukraine, by 2030, they plan to completely replace all urban public transport with electric, Infrastructure Minister Vladislav Krikliya said on Thursday, November 19.

“The National Transport Strategy of Ukraine until 2030 stipulates that cities will replace their parking lots with electric buses and a suitable charging infrastructure will be created for them,” said the minister during the Global Forum on Electronic Mobility, organized by the Ministry of Climate and Environment of Poland.

He noted that a strategy project has been drawn up for the development of the automotive industry, which provides incentives for the national production of electric cars, and also takes into account the popularization of both public and private electric transport.

Krykliy recalled that Ukraine is exempt from VAT on the import of electric vehicles.

“Today in Ukraine there are about 25 thousand electric cars, 25 thousand hybrids and almost 9 thousand points of electric charging stations located mainly in cities,” said the minister, noting that a project is being worked on to place electric charging stations in all roads.

Note that in October the electric vehicle market in Ukraine fell by 15%.

At the same time, used car sales in October were record high.
