The deputy head of the German police union, Jörg Radek, said that among the protesters were many soccer hooligans and right-wing extremists who had previously drawn the attention of the police.
According to the police, during the clashes between the protesters and the police, nine guards were injured. About 190 people were arrested.
Initially, several protests against the restrictive measures were announced in the German capital.
