For the review of the IMF program, Ukraine must reach a full mutual understanding on the steps for further cooperation. About this in Twitter IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said after a phone conversation with President Vladimir Zelensky.
“A constructive telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Zelensky about the implementation of the IMF program, the independence of the central bank and efforts to combat corruption. The review of the program must be preceded by a full step-by-step understanding,” Georgieva said.
As reported in the Office of the President, during the conversation, progress towards the adoption of Ukraine’s state budget for 2021, the preservation of the anti-corruption agenda and macroeconomic stability in the country, as well as a number of other issues were discussed.
Previously, the Ministry of Finance evaluated the possibility of receiving the tranche from the IMF. According to department head Sergey Marchenko, Ukraine has already completed four structural beacons out of ten. Kiev is still waiting to receive the next tranche before the end of the year.
