Press secretary of the Ukrainian national team Alexander Glivinsky He recounted the details on the cancellation of the Nations League sixth round match against Switzerland:
“It is finally clear that the UEFA Nations League game Switzerland-Ukraine will not be played today or tomorrow. The future of the meeting will be decided by the UEFA Disciplinary Committee.
According to the relevant code, you can take three solutions: postpone the match to another date, reveal the fault of one of the teams in the fact that the game did not take place or determine the result of the match by draw: a victory for one of the teams or a draw.
It’s hard to say exactly when the UEFA Disciplinary Committee will meet, but it’s safe it won’t be fast… Maybe this month, maybe next month, maybe later.
The Ukrainian national team complied with all the prescriptions required by the UEFA Return to Play protocol: periodic PCR tests, constant use of protective masks (filmed only in their hotel rooms and in front of a plate in a restaurant), social distance , constant hand disinfection and lack of contact with the outside world.
If there were coaches or players somewhere without masks, then only in the locker room, in training or during the game, as you know, this is exactly what the protocol allows. Therefore, there is simply no reason to see at least some failure of the Ukrainian national team in the spread of the coronavirus in the team.
Here the point is in the infection itself, which cannot always be stopped with the listed security measures, it develops gradually and is not transmitted from one to another at the same time.
It is obvious that the infection could have entered the collective from abroad, but now it is difficult to say where and when it occurred: the first positive tests were registered in Germany on November 13, but the infection could have occurred earlier.
Despite the fact that before and during the training camp, Ukraine lost up to 14 players due to positive PCR tests (not at the expense of Kryvtsov and Moraes, whom UEFA allowed the match, given the yellow status of the players who had been sick), the Ukrainians were ready to play in Switzerland today.
And this despite the fact that due to the coronavirus, in reality, the players of a team have already lost (if we take into account the minimum composition allowed for a game during a pandemic: 13 players) “.
