On the eve of the launch of the Radeon RX 6800 (XT) video cards, the results of testing the previous model in ray traced games, obtained by specialists from AMD, were published. We are talking about projects that use the DirectX Raytracing extension: Battlefield V, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Crysis Remastered, Metro Exodus and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
The tests were carried out at a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels with ultra graphics quality settings. The benchmark is based on a 12-core AMD Ryzen 9 5900X (3.7 / 4.8 GHz) processor, which has 16 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM.
Remember that in AMD Navi 2X graphics solutions, special blocks called Ray Accelerators are responsible for speeding up ray tracing. The Radeon RX 6800 XT has 72 such modules at its disposal.
Judging by official tests, the Radeon RX 6800 XT will still manage to outperform the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti in average fps, but at the same time, the new product will yield to its direct rival GeForce RTX 3080. Note that the Nvidia Ampere solutions they use the second generation of RT cores, whereas AMD started working on Ray accelerators relatively recently. The interim results for the green video cards are shown below.
