“The Ukrainian national team can take second place in the group”

Former Swiss Lausanne and Ukraine midfielder Yevgeny Lutsenko shared his expectations of Andriy Shevchenko’s match against Switzerland in the final round of the Nations League.

– Considering the personnel problems of the Ukrainian team, are the chances of a positive result in the game against Switzerland diminishing?

– I think so. Recently, however, Andriy Shevchenko, by force or not, but almost completely used his player clip, so the guys shouldn’t let you down. Although, of course, we will miss artists like Yarmolenko or Tsygankov.

– We are satisfied with a draw and even, in certain situations, with defeat. Will the Swiss feel pressured by the fact that they need a bleeding victory?

– No. They have an experienced team, in each game, said team is tuned only to obtain the maximum result. With the Swiss it was difficult for both the Germans and the Spanish. Although a lot still depends on the Ukrainian team, how they will behave. In my opinion, it is important not to sit on the defensive, but to try to play your own football, this clearly will not favor the opponent. In the first match against Switzerland, our team played well, with tactical flexibility. So why not repeat that scenario? If only the implementation didn’t fail again.

– What will your prognosis be?

– I will bet on the minimum victory of the blue-yellows – 1: 0, which can allow us to occupy the second place in the group …

The Switzerland – Ukraine match will take place on November 17, starting at 9:45 p.m. in Kiev. Andriy Shevchenko’s team will be satisfied with a draw to maintain their entry into Division A of the Nations League.
