A rally is held in Yerevan to demand the resignation of Pashinyan

A demonstration is taking place in Yerevan’s Freedom Square demanding the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. It was organized by 17 opposition parties.

News.am reports on this.

Protesters are also reportedly demanding the resignation of the entire government to form a new interim government.

It should be noted that a candle lighting ceremony was held on Saturday in Freedom Square in memory of the military who died during the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. The meeting did not take place on Sunday.

Recall that Pashinyan signed a joint declaration with the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia to end the war in Karabakh.

After that, mass protests began in Yerevan. Ishkhan Saghatelyan, representative of the Armenian opposition party “Dashnaktsutyun”, during a demonstration in Freedom Square in central Yerevan, announced the creation of a “Committee for National Salvation”.

In the early days, law enforcement officers detained 10 opposition leaders, accused of organizing mass protests in Yerevan.

Also today, Pashinyan said that he was not going to resign. However, he is considered the main responsible for the current situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
