The fight was promised to be competitive. Rivals with excellent kick, excellent technique, who know how to box and fight, and even almost the same age. But it worked only partially.
Crawford ended exploration by knockout
The first rounds for Terence were as difficult as they can be for an American. Brook did a good job with a jab, trying to continue the success additionally with the right fastball, the main weapon against the southpaw. It turned out well and even succeeded: At the break between one of the rounds, they tried to get Crawford’s left eye in order.
The American was watching closely. He worked like a jab, looking for options. Not to say that Brook was better, but due to his activity, he could be given a few rounds. Crawford did not stand up. He did not walk around the opponent. I didn’t think it would be given equal rounds for moves. He looked closely. I felt the distance, I checked the opponent’s reaction to the jab, to the left side. He solved, as it turned out, even a problem that was too simple for him.
Brooke is a good boxer. With its downsides, yes. With early defeats. But he only lost against the peaks. Yes, and it never fell off, it didn’t even go off especially. With Golovkin, the corner gave up, throwing in the towel, and with Spence, he starred himself for eye problems. So it was initially worth counting on some one-hit knockout or streak, after which Brooke will fly away, just considering the cumulative effect of the punches. Or Crawford’s strength, which seems to be not just a lot, but even a little more.
And in a duel with Terence, the Briton did everything right. He worked with a jab, tried to reach or catch with his right, tried not to let it go behind his front leg, so he wouldn’t fly off right away. And it still didn’t work.
Crawford won just by turning a little. He advanced into the fourth round, I got it. The referee counted the fall and immediately looked suspiciously at Brook. More – finished. Even in him, the American is good and cold-blooded, despite the seemingly overwhelming blows. Almost everything went well. Brook was thrown left and then right, and the judge in the ring decided it was time to finish it.
Isn’t it too early? It might have been worth the wait. On the other hand, why? Brooke tried to answer? Or, perhaps, trying to get out of the standing position? Of course, one more fall could have been counted, and then allowed to continue beating the British. But even he, after giving the go-ahead, is not so outraged. So, he showed surprise and discontent, that’s all. Like Joshua in his first fight with Ruiz. Because I understood that this ending was deserved and because I barely understood what was happening around me.

Brook flew through everything. For missed shots in previous fights and the difference in level with Crawford. She, as seen again, is huge.
Is Terence so cool or Brooke so weak?
A question that constantly arises. Both before and after each of Terence’s duels. Before you meet him, all boxers are great, “future” or “present” of boxing, strong veterans. After the majority of the fans, it becomes obvious that one rival is wet, the other is simple, the third is hopeless, and the fourth is long overdue.
Of course, this is not the case. Terence Crawford: pure strength and total dominance. A boxer who solves almost any challenge in the ring.
The last time the American’s fight ended with a decision by the judges was four years ago, then Victor Postol survived, although the Ukrainian collapsed early in the fight. After that there were only beatings and domination. In the process, Terence became an absolute, masterfully knocking out Indongo with a punch to the body.
Bill John Molina, Felix Diaz, Jeff Horn, Jose Benavides, Amir Khan, Egidius Kavalyauskas and now Kella Brook. Also, what may seem surprising, at times it was Kavalyauskas who created problems for Crawford: in one of the episodes, Egidius got caught in such a way that, apparently, the fall should have been told. But even there, the American came out: went into a clinch, twisted, fell, pretending not to have been hit.
As a result, Kavalyauskas also lost ahead of schedule, in the ninth round. As soon as Terence regained his rhythm and started spinning, Aegidius finished.
The problem with Crawford’s rivals is not the level, they are all great. The problem is that they are not the champions or the ones the fans want to see. Not Sean Porter, Manny Pacquiao or Errol Spence. In principle, everyone would be happy with these three, although they would still find excuses for the first two. In fact, everyone awaits the battle with Spence.
Whatever they say, Terence is 33 and won’t be sitting in the box until he’s fifty, as he previously announced.
Whats Next?
There are questions about Crawford’s future. First of all, they refer to the promoter. Terence ends his contract with Top Rank Bob Arum and, as is often the case, the boxer has complaints. It is clear that in this way he knocks out in somewhat better conditions, somewhat higher percentages, and says again: “Organize a great fight for me.”
After the fight, Bob even came with Crawford for a whirlwind interview, which he hadn’t done in a long time. You clearly want to keep that asset. Also, on the eve of the obvious megafite, which must take place.
Arum and Crawford will most likely agree. Yes, anyone would be signed by Terence, but Arum is one of the main drivers in the world at the moment, and if he offers conditions a little better than before, why leave? Most likely, the American himself understands this.
But the questions continue. Will Arum and Haymon agree on the fights between their star and the other top boxers at welterweight? Bob, of course, can, but it won’t be easy. Who should be the “side A”, who has more fees and everything else? Well, you know.
In general, Crawford doesn’t have many interesting options. The main one is to wait for the result of the fight between Spence and Garcia in December and start from here. There Errol said that in this category he had three more great challenges: Garcia, Pacquiao, Crawford, in that order. And indeed, then he will have a fight with everyone.
What is Crawford going to do if Spence doesn’t want to date him right away? Terence himself doesn’t mind meeting Manny, so he can intercept the Filipino with his belt, media presence and legendary status. If it doesn’t work out on Manny, then the option with swordsman Sean Porter, who will put on a show, and everyone will be perceived as a serious boxer, is always relevant.
Terence is 33 years old. It’s not a terrible age for a boxer, considering Crawford isn’t physically giving up yet, but it’s worth considering. As well as getting involved in fights against the remaining stars of the division. We sell the American not so well, but as a boxer he is great. So if you think about the legacy, get over the very names Spence called.
