Over the next week, the dollar against the hryvnia will gradually decline. The most likely scenario is the preservation of the current dynamics and the price of 28.10 hryvnia per dollar.
Maksim Parkhomenko, an analyst at Alpari, said this in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
As the analyst noted, the dollar against the hryvnia earlier this week began to grow. Even the news of the creation of a vaccine against the coronavirus failed to stop this movement. So until Thursday, the position of the hryvnia sank to 28.22 hryvnia.
However, on Friday, the hryvnia began to strengthen and was able to regain most of the drop, returning to the 28.12 level. “This dynamic, together with the fall of the dollar a week earlier, allows us to talk about the stabilization of the hryvnia: the currency found its support and will be in it,” said Parkhomenko.
“If in the near future the NBU does not increase the pressure on the hryvnia and does not buy the surplus currency from the market, next week we can test the 28.00 mark. It will be difficult to pass it,” the analyst added.
As the analyst recalled, during the past week the dollar against the hryvnia did not change significantly in all segments of the foreign exchange market.
So, from Friday to Friday, the official US dollar rate set by the NBU fell from UAH 28.25 to UAH 28.18. The demand / supply of the dollar in the interbank market, according to the company UkrDealing, remained unchanged during the same period 28.17 / 28.18.
Average cash dollar buy / sell rates at banks increased during the week from 28.15 / 28.20 to 28.25 / 28.30. At the same time, the spread between the average sale and the average purchase was unchanged.
As RBC-Ukraine reported, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) during the week of November 9 to 13, 2020 did not carry out interventions to buy currencies on the interbank market. At the same time, the central bank also refused to sell the currency.
Recall that the dollar exchange rate in the interbank market for sale on November 13, 2020, compared to the close of the previous session, decreased by 7 kopecks to 28.12 hryvnias per dollar, the exchange rate in purchase at 28.11 hryvnias per dollar.
