Israeli intelligence services in August at the request of the United States killed a high-ranking member of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda, Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah, in Tehran. The US intelligence services considered him the second person in the terrorist organization who is in charge of operational planning in al-Qaeda.

This was reported by The New York Times, citing US intelligence sources on Friday, November 13.

US special services suspected 57-year-old Abdullah, also known as Abu Muhammma al-Masri, of organizing terrorist attacks near US embassies in 1998. They then detonated powerful bombs outside US embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. As a result, 224 people died, including 12 Americans, more than 4.5 thousand people were injured.

According to the NYT, al-Masri was killed along with his daughter, the widow of the son of former al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden Hamza. They were shot by two motorcyclists who fled the scene. Ahmed Abdullah was considered the successor to al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri.

The US and Israeli authorities have yet to comment on the newspaper’s message. At the same time, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Said Khatibzade denied information about the removal of one of the Al-Qaeda leaders.

Mehr news agency quoted him as saying.

“Time From time to time, Washington and Tel Aviv, through lies and dissemination of disinformation in the media, try to show that Iran is involved in such (terrorist, – ed.) To groups in order to exempt themselves from responsibility for the criminal activity of this group (Al Qaeda, – ed.) And other terrorist groups in the region, “said the diplomat.

He noted that there are no al-Qaeda members on Iranian soil, adding that such allegations are part of the economic and psychological war against Iran.
