The quarantine was not introduced on weekends, but during the period from Saturday midnight to Monday 00:00, so declaring weekends as working days won’t help, Stepanov says.
Declaring weekends as workers will not help avoid quarantine, Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said of Savik Shuster’s Freedom of Speech program.
“They would also change the name of Saturday and Sunday, because we have a resolution from zero hours on Saturday to zero hours on Monday,” he said.
According to the minister, the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers on the weekend quarantine is not about “weekends”, but about the period of time from Saturday at midnight to Monday at 00:00. Therefore, Lviv’s decision to cancel the weekend will not help avoid the weekend quarantine.
Note that after Lvov, that decision was made in Ivano-Frankivsk.
Dnipro, Ternopil, Rivne, Zhitomir, Cherkassy and some smaller cities also refused to comply with the quarantine at the weekend.
