Three ministers oppose introduction of “weekend quarantine” in Ukraine: media

According to LB.ua, the Minister of the Interior, Arsen Avakov, the Minister of Culture and Information Policy, Alexander Tkachenko, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation, Mikhail Fedorov, voted against the decision on the “end quarantine of week”.

An outbreak of coronavirus infection began in late 2019 in China. On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the spread of the coronavirus a pandemic.

Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers decided on November 11 to introduce a “weekend quarantine” in the country. Stepanov said that we are talking about three weekends, starting next weekend. The media wrote that said quarantine will last until December 31 of this year. “Day off quarantine” states that from 00:00 on Saturday to 00:00 on Monday in Ukraine, only grocery stores, pharmacies, transportation, gas stations and veterinary pharmacies will operate. Restaurants, cafes or other catering establishments will operate take out only.

Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said the country would not endure a harsh blockade.

As of November 12, there were 500,865 cases of coronavirus infection in Ukraine, of which 11,057 were in the last 24 hours. 9,145 COVID-19 patients died, 227,694 people recovered.
