Schools and kindergartens in Ukraine can work during quarantine. Institutions should be closed if more than half of the students and staff have left for isolation.

This is reported in the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers to strengthen the quarantine.

Visiting institutions of preschool, general secondary, extracurricular, sports and specialized creative education is prohibited if more than 50% of the educational providers and staff of the institutions are in self-isolation due to contact with a coronavirus.

It also provides for the prohibition of visiting other educational institutions in groups of more than 20 people.

As a reminder, in mid-October, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to include the recommendation on distance education for educational institutions in the decree on the fall holidays. The local authorities decided to transfer the schools to online education. In some cities, students were sent to distance education, in some schools resumed.

Note that during the strict quarantine in Ukraine, children were not enrolled in schools from March until the end of the school year.

In addition, Hans Kluge, Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO), said that school closures are ineffective in fighting the coronavirus pandemic.
