Dynamo midfielder Mikkel Duelund said forward Niklas Bendtner was interested in moving to the Kiev club.
“Bendtner is a legendary footballer. In Denmark, literally everyone knows him. He played a lot and won. Plus, he’s also a nice down-to-earth guy who’s nice to talk to.
When I trained with him in Denmark, we spoke with him in all seriousness about moving to the Dynamo. At that time he didn’t have a club, it would be interesting if he played for us. Bendtner asked me to speak to the Dynamo management and convey that he wants to play for this club.
He really had this idea on fire and wanted to move to play in Ukraine. Probably the only thing that prevented him from moving is a huge salary, which not all clubs can take. But he told me: “If we agree on a salary, I will move 100% to the Dynamo.
Then he made him an offer for “Copenhagen”, Niklas agreed to go there. The money there was small, but he decided to return to his homeland in Denmark. This conversation we had with him was purely friendly. I asked him if he would agree to move to the Dynamo. That’s how it all started, word for word, ”said Duelund.
Bendtner, 32, joined Copenhagen in September 2019. According to Transfermarkt, he retired in August 2020. Statistics here.
