The department is preparing a request to the organization with a request to send doctors for emergency medical care.

Ukraine is ready to submit an application to the World Health Organization with a request to send doctors for emergency medical care. This was stated by the chief health doctor, Viktor Lyashko, in an interview with Ukrainian radio.

“The World Health Organization, as the coordinator, accepts applications for those who need medical workers. Now we are saying that we are ready to consider and cooperate with them in emergency medical care. Because emergency medical care is the stage where people need urgent help. ” – he said.

He clarified that it is not only about patients with coronavirus.

“When the number of calls for emergency medical care for COVID increases, the travel time of this team, which is currently involved in COVID, to another pathology, where emergency care is also needed, increases,” said Lyashko.

Previously, the Ministry of Health reported that 83 thousand beds will be redesigned for the placement of patients with coronavirus, which is half the total capacity of beds in the country. At the same time, the ministry previously admitted that if the epidemiological situation deteriorates, the country may not have enough health workers.

The number of coronavirus cases in Ukraine is close to 500 thousand, almost 260 thousand of them are active, around 28.5 thousand patients have been hospitalized in hospitals.
