The vaccine is expected to be available by the end of this year, but it could be challenging due to extreme storage conditions.

So, Gebreisus said that WHO expects an effective vaccine against COVID-19 by the end of this year.

“The Pfizer vaccine is very promising, we also expect more and more options,” Gebreisus added.

At the same time, the WHO regional director for Africa, Matshidiso Moeti, said that news about the possible availability of an effective vaccine portends serious problems, as it is stored at very low temperatures (-70 Celsius – ed.).

We recall, today it became known that the market entry of BioNTech and Pfizer COVID vaccines is postponed for technical reasons.

Pfizer previously said that its COVID vaccine was more than 90% effective.

By the way, today President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked German Chancellor Angela Merkel to facilitate the supply of the Pfizer vaccine to Ukraine.
