A foreigner who ran over four people in the center of Kharkov was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of 60 days of detention in a remand center with the right to pay a bail of 10.510 million UAH. This decision was made by Kharkov’s Kiev District Court on November 9, Kharkiv Times reports.
“A preventive measure was applied to the suspect in the form of detention for 60 days until January 5, 2021, including the determination of the amount of bail in the amount of 10 million 510 thousand UAH,” said the decision of the judge of the Court of Kiev district of Kharkiv Konstantin Sadovsky.
The suspect’s defense insisted on his house arrest.
Regarding the fact of a high-profile accident that occurred on November 7, 2020 in the center of Kharkov, the Egyptian national Handy Ali is suspected of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by people who drive vehicles).
The sanction of the article provides for three to eight years in prison with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years or without it.
