Azerbaijan admits it accidentally shot down a Russian helicopter
The Azerbaijani side assured that those responsible for the incident will be punished, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry positively assessed Azerbaijan’s admission of guilt in the incident with the Russian MI-24 helicopter downed in Armenia’s airspace and the promise of an early investigation of the incident. This was announced on Tuesday, November 10, by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“We also take note of the assurances given to us by the Azerbaijani side that an immediate investigation into the incident will be carried out and the perpetrators will be punished,” the diplomats said in a statement.
In turn, Baku reported that the Attorney General of Azerbaijan has launched an investigation into the incident with the downed Russian military helicopter.
Thus, the Azerbaijani authorities took responsibility for the downing of a Russian military Mi-24 helicopter near the border with Armenia and said it happened by mistake.
It should be remembered that a Russian Mi-24 helicopter was shot down over the territory of Armenia near the border with Azerbaijan. Two crew members died, one survived.
