The Attorney General of Armenia stated that investigators and law enforcement officers from Armenia and Russia are working at the scene of the Russian Mi-24 helicopter crash.

The Attorney General of Armenia has opened a criminal case for the accident of the Russian Mi-24 helicopter. This was reported on November 10 by the department’s press service.

The ministry said that the preliminary investigation of the case is being carried out by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

A criminal proceeding was initiated under paragraphs 1, 6 and 13 of art. 104, part 2 of art. 384 of the Penal Code of Armenia (murder and unleashing or aggressive war). They provide up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.

Investigators and law enforcement officers from Armenia and Russia are working at the scene.

Tonight near the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan a Russian helicopter crashed. It fell near the village of Yeraskh in the Ararat region of Armenia. It is known of two dead and one injured. The Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation said the crashed Russian helicopter was shot down.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported that the Russian Mi-24 helicopter was mistakenly shot down by the Azerbaijani army. The department apologized and announced its willingness to pay compensation.
