Number of coronavirus patients on the rise in hospitals

The Ministry of Health is increasing payments to doctors in those clinics where the number of patients exceeds 20 people per medical team.

In Ukraine, the number of coronavirus patients has increased in recent months, increasing the workload of medical teams. This was reported on Monday, November 9 by the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU).

So in October compared to September, there were 80% more hospitalized patients. In October, 2,213 medical teams provided hospital care to COVID-19 patients.

The department notes that in October, a medical team provided assistance to 26 patients, while in September – 16.

The recommended load is 20 patients.

In addition, there are medical facilities in which the number of patients per medical team exceeds the norm several times. In October there were 20 such hospitals.

“The largest burden on the Odessa Infectious Diseases Hospital is 129 patients per team. This means that at the same time, one doctor during his shift provides assistance to almost a hundred patients. Such a burden on doctors leads to fatigue. and significant exhaustion, “notes the NHSU.

Due to the increased workload, the department changed the rates to pay for hospital services.

“For example, the coefficient for the provision of medical care to more than 60 patients per team per month is 2.16. That is, the payment of that institution is more than double,” explains the NSZU.

The department recommends expanding the number of teams in hospitals serving large numbers of patients and creating additional ones.

In November, institutions that had more than 20 patients on a team in October can create additional teams without anesthesiologists.

It is observed that in this way more attention is paid to the patient and the doctor will be protected from exhaustion.

It was previously reported that in October more than 51 thousand patients with coronavirus were hospitalized, almost 10 thousand were treated in the intensive care unit.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are currently more than 28 thousand people in hospitals with suspected or diagnosed COVID-19.
