This match was awaited with great interest for many reasons. After all, again in our championship there was an intrigue in the fight for first place, which, frankly, had not been there for several years. But unexpectedly, the situation with the coronavirus intervened in the dispute between the two best teams in the country, and both clubs were seriously affected by it. Shakhtar faced this problem a bit earlier than their opponents, however, even after the main players returned to the ranks, the last games showed that they are still far from their best condition. The young men who replaced them are unstable. As for Dynamo, their infirmary, sadly, is not yet empty, but on the contrary, it continues to replenish with new cases of COVID-19. So, on the eve of the game, Vladimir Shepelev, Vladislav Supryaga and Bogdan Lednev were still in it.
So the two mentors, Mircea Lucescu and Luis Castro, had to think hard and wonder who to throw on the field. As a result, Dynamo, taking substitutes into account, had only 16 players, and from the beginning, Shakhtar practically put on the field his own combat line-up, in which not only was Serhiy Kryvtsov, and Andriy Pyatov once again remained in the bank. But, I repeat, it was not clear in what state the miners were, especially after a sick defeat in the Champions League against Borussia.
The first minutes of the game were very calm. Both teams held the ball for a long time and made no particular effort to aggravate the game. Only at the end of the 10th minute, Junior Moraes hit Kiev’s goal, but it was not strong and Ruslan Nesheret managed easily. Three minutes later, Vitaly Buyalsky shot from outside the area from an acute angle, but the ball hit the net from outside.
But in the 18th minute of the game there was the first real chance to score. A free kick was awarded right in the middle, although the distance to the Dynamo’s goal was more than thirty meters. He decided to break through to Viktor Kornienko, who drove the ball hard into the lower right corner of the goal. Here the Kiev goalkeeper had to show his skills.
The fans had to wait for the next moment of danger for fifteen minutes, when, following a corner kick, Vitaly Buyalsky slipped down the front row into the visitors’ penalty area and gave a pass to the wide open Sergei Sidorchuk. The Dynamo captain hit hard from medium distance, but missed.
And already in the next minute 34, Shakhtar opened the scoring. On a quick counterattack, he followed a pass from Dodo’s right into the goalkeeper’s line area, Ruslan Nesheret made a mistake coming out of the goal by missing the ball, and Junior Moraes calmly hit the goal with his head.
Two minutes later, Dynamo was close to rebalancing. And again, a quick counterattack worked, but on the opposite gate. Viktor Tsygankov led Vitaliy Buyalskyy into Shakhtar’s goal, but fired slightly from a vantage point and directly into Anatoly Trubin’s hands.
This could have ended the first half, but already in the first compensated minute, Sergei Sidorchuk rudely knocked down the fast-paced Viktor Kornienko, after which match referee Yekaterina Monzul showed the Kiev resident for the first time a yellow card. But after looking at the VAR, he canceled the warning by taking the offending party off the field.
Unfortunately, the injury Sidorchuk inflicted on Kornienko prevented the latter from continuing the game. Although he came out in the second half, he asked for a substitution in the 48th minute. Instead, Cipriano appeared on the field. And here, literally, Tyson made a characteristic gesture to his coach, which means a replacement. Manor Solomon took his place.
Shakhtar had a good chance to increase their lead in the 58th minute. Dodo burst into the home side’s penalty area from the right and threw the ball at Marcos Antonio’s shot. He shot hard into the right corner, but Ruslan Neshcheret saved the ball in a jump. In the 64th minute, Manor Solomon scored from distance and again the Kiev goalkeeper played reliably. But two minutes later he was already powerless to help his team. It was Taras Stepanenko who ventured a long-range shot, the ball hit Marcos Antonio’s leg, changed direction and flew to the corner of the goal to the right of Neshcheret.
The miners’ mentor, Luis Castro, immediately made three more changes, and two of those footballers who took to the pitch almost immediately in the 72nd minute scored a third goal against Dynamo. Viktor Kovalenko gave the pass to Alan Patrick and he shot from outside the box to the right corner of the goal.
Playing in the minority, the Kievists rarely attacked in the second half. One of those attacks in the 76th minute ended with a light blow from Viktor Tsygankov and Anatoly Trubin seized the ball without problems.
Both teams frankly finished the end of the match. Shakhtar controlled the ball for a long time, but he rarely aggravated the situation. And the Dynamo defended with all their players, practically without crossing the center of the field.
As a result, the miners obtained a great victory by 3: 0. This is the first defeat of the Kievites in the current national championship and now only one point divides the rivals in the standings.
