On November 6, the Verkhovna Rada introduced fines for not wearing masks in public places. Ukraine’s Justice Minister Denis Malyuska explained that such fines will not be applied to minors or to those who do not wear a mask on the street.

The application of fines from 17 to 34 thousand UAH for violation of quarantine rules was unfair. This was stated by the Minister of Justice of Ukraine, Denis Malyuska, on Facebook.

“The application of a fine of this type for not wearing a mask in a public place was unfair, because few people have enough money to pay that fine. In addition, the procedure to apply the fine was long, a judicial decision was needed,” he said .

The minister stressed that the situation will change dramatically after the entry into force of the law passed by the Verkhovna Rada, which establishes fines for not wearing a mask in public places and transportation in the amount of 170 to 255 UAH.

“At the same time, the application of said fine will be quick, since it will be imposed by a policeman, a representative of the State Consumer Service immediately on the spot. Said fines will not be applied to minors or to those who do not wear a mask on the street, “Malyuska explained.
