In the opening match of matchday 9 of the Ukrainian Premier League, Kolos Kovalevsky managed to continue to strengthen at the top of the table, beating Dnipro-1 Dnieper away (2: 0).

In a post-match interview with the ProFootball Digital program, Kolos’ Ukrainian midfielder Yevgeny Smirny evaluated his team’s actions in the match at the Dnepr-Arena.

“We immediately got ready to play the counterattack, to give the initiative to Dnipro-1. It so happened that we took advantage of the free zones and Denis Antyukh played very well, thanks to him I could only put my foot in front of the empty goal,” he surrendered homage to the actions of his partner Smirny.

“The main thing was to hold on in the first half, but in the second it became easier. In fact, we controlled the game, we waited for our opportunities. When they appeared, we took them,” shared Eugene a simple secret of his team’s success.

Suddenly, in the background, there was a crash of a suitcase falling, which scared the interviewee. It turned out that Kolos striker Evgeny Seleznev was passing by. Since he noticed him, the striker could not leave without his characteristic joke: “Yes, I am very happy to score the first goal of my career, I barely managed it …”, – Seleznev threw beyond the cameras.

Meanwhile, the question to Smirny was raised in the context of the benefits that the transfer of an experienced player can bring to the team. Indeed, an open battlefield for jokes in response: “What can you add? Look at him, minus one on the team. Just kidding. Seleznyov is a good guy. Today, he worked for the team, he helped on defense.”

“We want to go back to the European Cups next season,” the footballer summed up in a short sentence and the fight against Dnipro-1, and the initial fragment of the season made by his team.

After a break for national team matches, Kolos will return to business at the UPL with an away game against Poltava Vorskla, with whom he shares the third row of the standings.
