On Friday, November 6, it became known about the death of the 86-year-old satirist Mikhail Zhvanetsky.
This was reported to various Russian media by his representative Oleg Stashkevich.
About a month ago, he announced the cessation of public speaking.
A year ago, Zhvanetsky was diagnosed with prostate cancer. To treat this disease, he went from Odessa to Russia and was in the hospital of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation.
The satirist felt fine during treatment, was googling, had no bed rest, media reported in January 2020.
It is still unknown whether this was the cause of Mikhail Zhvanetsky’s death.
Zhvanetsky first took the big stage in 1964, when Arkady Raikin invited him to his theater to head the literary department. Since then, he has authored hundreds of sketches and miniatures, which he staged with Raikin.
Mikhail Zhvanetsky’s authorship belongs to parodies such as “Avas” (it was read by Raikin himself and the recently deceased Roman Kartsev).
Also one of the most famous miniatures is “The Age of Technology”. Both Raikin and Zhvanetsky himself read it.
Zhvanetsky really began to read his works from the stage, and therefore made a solo career.
Zhvanetsky’s “trick” was his appearance on stage with a folder, from which he took out text sheets and read without pretending. But this format was popular.
