Quarantine may be tightened in Ukraine, but lockdown will not be introduced

The tightening of quarantine restrictions, which RBC-Ukraine previously wrote about, does not provide for an all-Ukraine lockdown similar to this spring. In particular, public transport will continue to function.

The newspaper was informed about this by a source in the Office of the President.

According to the interlocutor, restrictions will be introduced depending on the situation in a certain region of the country, as is happening now. The key parameters are not the increase in the absolute number of new cases of the disease, but the number of severe cases, the mortality rate and the level of occupancy of hospital beds.

The transport will continue to work as usual, but some restrictions can still be introduced, for example, on the number of flights or their cargo. The same applies to shops: they will not be closed, but could potentially, for example, reduce the duration of your work, introduce restrictions on weekends, etc.

We will recall, today there was information that Ukraine plans to introduce the so-called weekend quarantine. According to a source from RBK-Ukraine, food courts and entertainment events may be closed in the country on weekends.

Later, the chief medical officer, Viktor Lyashko, said that the issue of introducing the weekend quarantine in Ukraine was still being discussed, adding that the quarantine will be extended from November 9.
