“I’m looking forward to becoming the world’s first racket”

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina, who now ranks fifth in the WTA rankings, hopes to win Grand Slam tournaments and also wants to become first in the rankings.

– It is clear that it is too early to guess, but as it seems now, how many more years do you plan to act?

– It is a difficult question, because even in the current situation it is not clear: the prize money has decreased, not in the Grand Slam, but in other tournaments. They were all quarantined for a time, and several people have already finished their careers. An incomprehensible situation, so somehow I don’t think about it for today.

– Are you still burning with the desire to win or do you already have some satiety from the performances?

– I’m looking forward to winning the Grand Slam tournament and becoming the first racket in the world. I have been going to tournaments since I was three years old, because my brother played professionally with me. Of course, this is exhausting: your whole life you are on wheels or on flights. This plays a role. I’m not 19 years old anymore, so I already have some experience, some kind of fatigue, but there is also a routine that I have developed over the years, when I try to renew myself completely, psychologically, physically. Of course, now that you get older, you already need to spend more time on recovery, and this is one of the most important moments in tennis right now. Because tournaments are always and everywhere, and whoever is better recovered, who is better prepared, wins tournaments.
