Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said that the situation with the coronavirus in Ukraine is turning from complex to catastrophic.

During a speech at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, he also said that an easy scenario for the passage of the second wave of coronavirus is no longer possible.

«The situation is rapidly going from difficult to disastrous. The epidemic is developing at the rate of hurricanes around the world. We need to prepare for the inevitable: the second wave cannot be easily passed. Therefore, our efforts are aimed at surviving these tests with minimal costs, ”said Stepanov.

According to him, “no matter how fast we add beds, the coronavirus is spreading much faster”, and this situation is the same all over the world.

  • As of today, the daily incidence rate of COVID-19 in Ukraine has reached 8,899 cases.
  • In Kiev, a daily record of the number of new cases of infection was recorded: 789.
  • In the Kharkov region, the coronavirus was diagnosed in 712 people per day.
  • In the Khmelnytsky region, 506 cases of the disease were detected.
  • In the Donetsk region, the disease was confirmed in 496 people.
  • In the Zhytomyr region, 470 new cases of infection were detected per day.
