According to the police, the shooting began. at 8:00 p.m. local time (9:00 p.m. Kiev time) in the area Seitenstetengasse in the center of Vienna. It took place in six different locations, including near the synagogue. on the Schwedenplatz square.

The media reported that four suspects were detained.
Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz called the incident “a terrible terrorist attack.” According to him, the republic is going through “difficult times.”
